Incumbents in this job combine academic engineering knowledge with acquired practical experience to perform engineering tasks of moderate complexity and/or projects in a supervised team environment. Incumbents relay on senior engineering staff or management for technical direction and engineering application on a general basis including general review of engineering calculation, plans and specifications, technical studies, inspections, and resulting proposed engineering alterations. Performs standard and some advanced engineering tasks with relative independence including equipment, system and facility inspections and analysis.
Performs moderately complex project assignments including problem analysis, identification, solution, proposal, implementation and follow-up. Reviews environmental regulations of moderate complexity to make process recommendations in support of environmental projects. Interprets rules and regulations in there application to environmental problems and events.
Reviews, under general supervision engineering aspects of permit plans and specifications for compliance to mandated federal and state environmental control systems, etc.
Qualifications

BS or advanced degree in a directly related area. Experience developing long-range environmental plans; working with legislative bodies to develop environmental policies and/or rules; working with federal, state and local governments to address on-road and non-road mobile source and transportation issues. Experience in mobile source and transportation sector processes and control strategies as they relate to air quality.
