BASIC FUNCTION: Conducts environmental assignments and duties for the Environmental Department under minimal supervision. Directs or leads the work of others from time-to-time.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (may include any of the following)
- Ensures compliance with environmental regulations and permits for air quality. May also assist with compliance with solid waste, hazardous materials, wastewater and drinking water systems/operations regulations.
- Prepares permit applications and works with State agencies on non-compliance releases
- May assist with the technical oversight on groundwater and soil contamination issues
- Interacts with and monitors contractors for monitoring of valves, flanges & pumps under the LDAR program
- Performs daily review of CEMS data, oversees entry of pertinent records included monitored values and documentation of excess emissions and CEMS outages. Prepares monthly summaries of CEMS data for quarterly compliance reports
- Assists refinery personnel to comply with governmental regulations
- Performs technical/regulatory analysis, field sampling and testing, and report preparation
- Prepares periodic emission reports
- Performs special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: Prefer some background in Environmental Compliance, prefer air quality, plus if related to petroleum refining. Understanding of process engineering and chemical processes.
EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, in an engineering or environmental is required.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Able to lead and train a small group of employees in a Technical Expert capacity. Special training in hazardous waste regulations and possession of or the ability to obtain DOT Hazmat Shipping and a Certification is OSHA Hazmat is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job conditions may require light lifting, sitting and bending. Capable of climbing towers over 100 feet tall.
